Chien 51 est un film franco-belge de thriller, policier et science-fiction, co-écrit et réalisé par Cédric Jimenez. Le scénario, coécrit avec Olivier Demangel, adapte le roman du même nom de Laurent Gaudé. Le casting réunit Gilles Lellouche, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Louis Garrel, Romain Duris, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi et Artus. Présenté hors compétition à la Mostra de Venise 2025, le film est sorti en salles françaises le 15 octobre 2025. Situé dans un Paris futuriste divisé par classes sociales, il met en scène deux policiers que tout oppose, contraints de collaborer sur fond d’intelligence artificielle et de contrôle social.

Dans un futur proche, Paris a été divisé en trois zones séparant les classes sociales, où une intelligence artificielle nommée ALMA a révolutionné le travail de la police. Lorsque son inventeur est assassiné, Salia et Zem, deux policiers que tout oppose, sont forcés de collaborer pour mener l’enquête. Le premier officie dans la Zone 3, la plus pauvre, tandis que la seconde enquête depuis la Zone 2, réservée aux classes intermédiaires, le tout sous la pression d’un ministre de l’Intérieur et d’un activiste opposé à l’intelligence artificielle. Sans en révéler l’issue, le récit interroge la place laissée à la justice et à l’humain face à un outil de surveillance jugé infaillible.

Le film adapte le roman de Laurent Gaudé publié en 2022 aux éditions Actes Sud, en transposant l’action d’Athènes vers Paris. Il constitue le troisième volet d’une trilogie de Cédric Jimenez consacrée aux forces de l’ordre, après « BAC Nord » et « Novembre ». Le tournage s’est déroulé d’abord en Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, l’équipe ayant choisi les quartiers nord de Marseille pour représenter la zone des plus pauvres, avant de se poursuivre à Paris, notamment au pont d’Arcole dans le 4e arrondissement, puis à Bruxelles. La production a réuni Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, Studiocanal, France 2 Cinéma, Jim Films et Artemis Productions, pour un budget estimé entre 40 et 50 millions d’euros.

Le film a pris la tête du box-office français dès sa sortie, avec un cumul de 1 386 155 entrées en France. L’accueil critique s’est révélé partagé : certains observateurs, comme BFMTV, l’ont jugé « nerveux, bien réalisé, mais sans nuances », tandis que Libération a estimé le film raté et déconnecté de l’air du temps, plusieurs critiques reprochant à Cédric Jimenez d’avoir privilégié les scènes d’action au détriment de la réflexion portée par le roman original. Le film a néanmoins obtenu deux nominations aux César 2026.

The film adapts Laurent Gaudé’s novel, published in 2022 by Actes Sud, transposing the action from Athens to Paris. It is the third installment in a Cédric Jimenez trilogy about law enforcement, following « BAC Nord » and « Novembre ». Filming took place first in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, with the crew choosing the northern districts of Marseille to depict the poorest zone, before moving to Paris, notably at the Pont d’Arcole in the 4th arrondissement, and then to Brussels. The production brought together Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, Studiocanal, France 2 Cinéma, Jim Films, and Artemis Productions, with a budget estimated between €40 and 50 million.

The film topped the French box office upon release, with a cumulative total of 1,386,155 admissions in France. Critical reception was mixed: some outlets, such as BFMTV, described it as « tense, well-directed, but lacking nuance, » while Libération considered the film a failure disconnected from the current moment, with several critics faulting Cédric Jimenez for prioritizing action sequences over the reflection carried by the original novel. The film nonetheless received two nominations at the 2026 César Awards.
